On August 15th, 2016, we opened a new branch located at 175 N Street NE in 'NoMa' Washington, DC. NoMa is a vibrant neighborhood nestled between Union Station, the US Capitol, Shaw, and the H Street, NE corridor.

We chose to open our new branch in NoMa for a few reasons:
Our previous Chinatown branch was located in a building scheduled for demolition.
To create a more convenient location for our members to do their banking.
To better serve the community of Washington, DC. Did you know anyone who lives, works worships, or attends school in DC is eligible to join our credit union?

The new branch is open seven days a week and features an iPad bar, open floor plan, and an inviting lobby space. Designed by Collective Architecture, the branch was built within a newly constructed building just steps away from the NoMa-Gallaudet U Metro stop via the red line. Ride, drive, walk or bike to our NoMa branch.

To celebrate the one-year anniversary of our new location, we hosted a week of fun festivities at the NoMa branch. Each day, the branch held unique events, promoting the credit union’s services and gratitude toward our members and our community.
On Monday, we held “Man Crush Monday”, which featured Benjamin Franklin. Since Benjamin graces us with his presence as the face of the $100 bill we had invited a Ben Franklin re-enactor to the branch. Ben interacted with members and posed for photos. On “Tasty Tuesday”, the credit union provided pastries and coffee in partnership with a local cafe, Au Bon Pain. “Wealthy Wednesday” included a free financial seminar with the topic ‘Grow Your Wealth’. Attendees who were interested in learning more about other products and services were provided personalized service and more financial education material after the seminar. The credit union showed gratitude to existing members on “Thankful Thursday” by hosting a happy hour that included a champagne toast and sweet treats. Attendees were able to interact with staff and enjoy complimentary libations while learning all about what the credit union has accomplished at the NoMa branch to-date. We then rounded out the week with “Refer-A-Friend Friday”, enticing members to encourage their friends and family to open accounts. The existing member and new member are both eligible for a $20 cash bonus if the new account stays open for 60 days and direct deposit is initiated. This offer is still available at all branch locations.

In addition to the daily events, the credit union gave away scratch-offs throughout the entire week, to anyone who visited the branch. Prizes ranged from tumblers to Washington National’s Baseball tickets. In total, we gave away twelve pairs of Nationals tickets and countless tumblers, grocery bags and more.

Thank you for celebrating with us. We look forward to continuing to serve you, and the community of NoMa. Stay tuned for details on our next event: The credit union will be celebrating our 85th Anniversary in October 2017!
