The Credit Union contributed to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) 8th Annual VA2K event this year. The department-wide event took place at the VA Central Office located at 810 Vermont Avenue, Washington, DC on Wednesday, May 16th. The same event as took place at the Brooklyn Medical Center on Monday, May 21st. The VA2K event not only promotes health and wellness by getting employees out of the office for a mid-day walk but also provides assistance to homeless Veterans by collecting much-needed donations. Items requested for donation included canned food, clothing, personal hygiene items, and more.
When VA employees contacted the Advantage Financial FCU Marketing Department to confirm VA2K would be taking place in Washington, DC this year, the Credit Union was happy to help! Advertisements were created and displayed on all of the Credit Union television monitors. In addition, a generous donation was purchased and prepared.
The Credit Union donated over 40 individual travel toiletry kits for both men and women, valued at over $500. The travel kits contained items such as deodorant, shampoo, shaving cream, and more. The kits were personally delivered by Credit Union employees on Tuesday, May 15th and shipped to the Brooklyn Medical Center. Advantage Financial President/CEO, Don Johnson said: “we’re proud to be a part of the VA community and even more proud of our commitment to giving back to our community.”
